On June 13, our Wilderness Corps interns and staff embarked on an eight-day hitch to the Siskiyou Wilderness Area.
The trip began with Siskiyou Mountain Club program managers Tiffani Ayres and Trevor Meyer at the helm. Starting on the East Fork Blue Creek Trail #4E09, the crew did some heavy brushing, spot treading, and some significant crosscut logout.

Some of the logs were massive, with some on the crew saying they were the largest trees they had ever cut.
On day four, Tiffani and Trevor hiked out to perform other duties, leaving staff member Cole Boback to head the crew.

The route ahead was challenging, and included many creek crossings, but this made for some “impeccable creekside camping,” Cole says.
The crew also completed some work on the Forks of the Blue Trail #4E07, with some additional help from Forest Service staff.

Cole says that his crew cut approximately 180 logs. Around 25% - 30% of those were over 18 inches in diameter. The crew also brushed 2.9 miles of trail, and conducted a quarter-mile of detailed tread repair.

This week, we’re welcoming another eight interns to our Wilderness Corps crew. They’ll be headed out to the Marble Mountain Wilderness Area for their orientation.
