11 AUGUST 2025 | PILOT ROCK, OR. -- With financial support from the Oregon Trails Coalition, we're recruiting volunteers to hop onto some projects in the Cascade-Siskiyou National monument, specifically the Soda Mountain Wilderness.
We are especially interested in training new volunteers, including those who may want to adopt their favorite trail sections for annual maintenance in the future. Participate in one, any, or join us for all of the monument moments in September. Email trevor@siskiyoumountainclub.org now to learn more and to sign up for trips.
September 13: Learn the ropes
Come learn to use an antique crosscut saw to buck downed logs from the Pacific Crest Trail near Pilot Rock heading toward Boccard Point. All skill levels are welcome and there will be some brush and tread work as well. Carpool options from Gold Hill, Talent and Ashland. All you need is a sack lunch, water for the day, and basic hiking apparel.
Email trevor@siskiyoumountainclub.org now for details and to sign up.
September 18: Monthly stewardship day
Join us for our standing third-Thursday event working on the Pacific Crest Trail. We'll be working from near Boccard Point toward Pilot Rock, with the goal of tying into the work from the previous weekend.
This trip is ideal for new volunteers of all ages who will get the chance for hands-on training. Just email trevor@siskiyoumountainclub.org.
September 20, September 20 - 21, or September 20 - 23
Spend the day, one night, or three nights working and learning shoulder-to-shoulder with the fall crew to reopen the Lone Pilot Trail, which hasn't been serviced since 2021 due to funding cuts. If you plant to stay overnight or until September 23, you should have some recent backpacking experience and will need approval by the trip leader.
Just email trevor@siskiyou mountainclub.org or call 458-254-0657 for details and to sign up.
Do not miss this opportunity to see the splendor of fall in the depths of the Soda Mountain Wilderness, what with its rich colors and far-reaching views of Shasta, the Klamath Basin, and beyond. Email trevor@siskiyoumountainclub.org now for details and to sign up.
September 27: Public Lands Day
Details to-be-determined. Email trevor@siskiyoumountainclub.org now to be added to the list.
