Chainsaw Training Course - May 10-11th

Join us for a two-day chainsaw training course covering the safe and efficient use of chainsaws for trail maintenance. 

This is an excellent opportunity for beginning and experienced Sawyers alike. Learn the  skills needed to operate and maintain and chainsaw. Work in small groups and get one on one mentorship from an experienced Sawyer Instructor/Evaluator.

On Day 1 of this two-day course we will cover the basics and build the foundational knowledge to safely and efficiently run a saw. Day 2 will be totally hands on.

Students may earn a U.S. Forest Service Sawyer Certification Card. The class is taught by our Cooperator Saw Program Coordinator Trevor Meyer. 

In order to earn a Sawyer Certification Card you must follow-up with a field evaluation. Depending on class size and other factors, alternate dates may be made available at the instructors discretion.

PPE, Tools & Fuel

We encourage participates to use the tools and equipment available to them. Still building out your own tool cache? Borrow a saw, chaps, or other gear from us. 

Course Schedule

May 10, 2025  8AM-5PM: An introduction to the anatomy and maintenance of chain saws, and the necessary techniques for bucking logs. 

May 11, 2025  8AM-5PM:  Take to the trail with saws in hand. Working in small groups and under the guidance of an experienced Sawyer Instructor get one on one and small group coaching.
