Volunteer with Siskiyou Mountain Club

Volunteering on the trail is a great way to connect with our public lands, give back to the community, see new places, and have fun with great people. All of our crew leaders are First Aid or Wilderness First Aid certified and have multiple seasons of backcountry trails experience.. They carry nationally-recognized field certifications and are passionate about the places we work.

To sign up for a trip, check out our calendar of events and follow sign up instructions included in the trip description. You will receive a response within 48 hours.

After signing up via email for a trip, you will receive an email that includes gear lists and all necessary details 7-10 days before the trip commences, as well as another email 48 to 72 hours before the trip that includes weather and any final details. We move forward with trips rain or shine, but will cancel to sleet, heavy wind, or hazardous conditions.

Volunteers do great work
Siskiyou Mountain Club volunteers do great work through upholding the same quality standards as our professional staff, and volunteering is the best way to build trails skills. The focus of our volunteer trips is always to train our volunteers and do high quality work. We ask all volunteers to please read our communications thoroughly, follow any instructions, and to come prepared. Be proactive about addressing questions, clarifications, or concerns with the trip leader well before the outing you're interested in.

Some trips do require prerequisites like recent backpacking experience and fitness levels that trip leaders may need to verify before accepting you to the trip. If you must cancel, please do so as early as possible by contacting the trip leader.
