Director’s July Report

Executive Director’s report:

June 2015 was record month for SMC

22 July 2015 | Ashland, OR — June was one of the best months in SMC history. We exceeded our fundraising target and gained 15 new members. 23 members renewed and we had more than 60 donations.

Field developments: Crew has made some serious headway. During their orientation they restored a long section of the Kalmiopsis Rim Trail. During a 10 day hitch in the Kalmiopsis, they completed restoration of a 42 mile loop. Presently they’re up at Pilot Rock wrapping up a 10 day hitch in the Soda Mountain Wilderness. They will work two, ten day hitches restoring a loop in the Wild Rogue. Some of them will continue on to work a fifth hitch in the Sky Lakes Wilderness.

Other developments: Forest Service executed a master agreement that makes it easier for managers to assign us projects through supplemental agreements. This mechanism has already been employed for work on the Pacific Crest Trail.

We will be closing out Oregon State Recreational Trails Program grant for work in the Kalmiopsis this month.

I’ve been training an intern in the office, Emily Osbourne, and it is working out very well. She is processing donations, doing other clerical tasks and helping on projects.

Recent press releases got us some good press with articles in the Medford Mailtribune and The Oregonian.

I am seeking input and help for new programming. I’m considering doing a survey of members/public to see what kind of trips they would like.
